Ask

Sometimes the word wisdom is lost on me.  It seems so vague or I think it is given only to people like Solomon.  On the other hand, the terms knowledge, insight and judgement sound like things that I want.

Yesterday in my post about faith I learned that God longs to give to those who ask for what they need or want. Today in James I read the same message— ASK!  Ask God for what you need.

It’s good news for me and I bet it’s good news for you too.  The news that the very nature of God is to give to everyone who asks.  He doesn’t care if you have asked one time or a thousand times.  He doesn’t care because he doesn’t keep score.

So today I will take that advice.  I will take God at His word and I will ask him for what I need.  I will bask in the knowledge that I love a God who loves me and loved me first.

But anyone who needs wisdom should ask God, whose very nature is to give to everyone without a second thought, without keeping score. Wisdom will certainly be given to those who ask.

Faith

Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.  Matthew 8:13 NKJV

As you have believed, so let it be done for you. I needed to take a moment to let that sink in.  As. you. have. BELIEVED!

Too often I hear familiar faith scriptures and they pass on by me without too much thought.  But today I read Matthew 8 and verse 13 struck me.  Maybe I had never read it in this version or maybe (probably) God wanted to get my attention.  I am glad he did because I am struggling.  Would you by chance be struggling too? Surely I am not the only one…

Maybe you are struggling with your health like I am.   Maybe it’s a relationship that needs work. Maybe it’s fear.  Fear of a situation in your life, your country or your world.

I just almost don’t know what to write.  I want to stop typing in this moment and go read more scriptures to get some sort of instructions!  I mean, really!  If I ask God he might do what I ask?— so exciting, so scary and so very underused, misunderstood and passed over.

Friends please go pick up your bible with me and look for more on faith. You will surely hear more from me on this topic in the very near future.

Thank you for coming along on this journey with me.
