Love

Do you long to hear the words, “I love you”?

Maybe you are blessed to hear them often. Do you hear them as often when you mess up? I hope so. Do you doubt when you have hurt those you love, when you snap at them and say mean things… does it seem like you just might hear them a tiny bit less.  What about if you lie, cheat, steal or whatever sin you deem as worse than another?

Well I have some very important news for you…God is abounding in love!

Abounding?  Does that word seem a bit unused or odd?  How about the words teeming, abundant or bountiful?  God’s love is teeming, abundant and bountiful!  But not only a characteristic of God it is God’s love to YOU and to ME!

Yes!  When we are good (meaning when we “behave”) and when we are bad!  When we hurt people, when we hurt God.

The scriptures below are in the NIV version and they ALL describe God’s love as ABOUNDING!  Ah such good news!  Remember that friends!  God loves you in the good and the bad.  God loves you not because of what you have done. God loves you because that is who is IS.

Because I want to be sure you read those verses about God’s love I will write them below.  They are good, they will help you see God for who he is and for who you are NOT.  You are not powerful enough to stop God’s love for you, no matter what you do.

Friends,

Go today believing that God loves you.

With Love,

—Kate

Psalm 86:5. “You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.”

Psalm 86:15 “But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.”

Numbers 14:18a “The Lord is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion…”

Joel 2:13 “Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.”

Good Father

I want to see people with your eyes.  I want to love with your heart.  I want to forgive like I have been forgiven.

I long to be in your house.  Exceedingly I beg for the salvation of the lost.  Wait!  Please wait to return until they are ready.  Until they see the need for your love.

Lord, I know I am not alone in this desire.  You have a remnant of people who love you and want to be used by you.  We, God’s people, will suffer here on earth if it means the salvation of your creation.

Walk along side us in our suffering.

Thank you Father for loving us.

John 3:16-17 NIV

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

Look for Jesus

Why do we shoot and kill and destroy?
Why do we harm one another with our words?
Why do we cut others down just to build ourselves up?

What is the evil that drives the hatred?

How do we stop this evil…

We LOVE.

We love those a different color.
We love those that disagree with us.
We love those that look different, sound different and act differently than we do.

How can we love?
How can we put aside our differences…

By looking for Jesus.
Look for Jesus in every situation.

We will find him in the pain in their eyes and on their faces. It may be the very same pain we see in the mirror everyday.

Look for Jesus…

Love

We all like to hear the words I love you.

These three words we long for in our souls.  Because of this longing we feel we often take the wrong path. We follow the world and it’s desires.  We don’t trust God.  We think we know it all.

But when we look inside ourselves we inherently know that we are proud, arrogant, angry, spiteful, and a whole host of other words. We want to be loved and we have all heard that we are to love people. Pastors preach this message weekly all across the world.

If I had to guess I would say that one simple word means very different things to many people. Different cultures, different families and different lives shape and mold us. Our differences often cause us to look at life differently. But still we want to be loved and we NEED to be loved.

Sometimes it is just hard!  It’s hard to love people who are arrogant, angry and spiteful even when the “people” are ourselves.

No matter who you are one thing is undeniable if you were to pause just for a minute… pause.  Take off what hinders you.  Look and see that God loves us.

God LOVES us.  Let that sink in.  God… who lives in heaven…who is all powerful…all knowing…could do or have anything he pleases…LOVES us.  US…us the proud, the arrogant, the angry and…the hurt.  Yes…you!

Let the blinders fall from your eyes.  Let the love of Jesus fill your soul.  Let yourself be loved.
